Cash and I opted to stay behind at the hotel! I took him to the indoor pool for the first appointment. The parents came back to the hotel in between appointments and Cash and I opted out again! We snuggled in bed, played video games and played some made up games too!
As our guide, Rita, had told us there would be adjustments, so today was adjustment day. It seemed one by one each each of the children spent a little more than usual time fussing and/or crying. Rita explained that they go through a time of mourning for their caregivers and what they had been used to. The older they are, they worse it seems. Jian is the oldest boy and another little cutie pie, Jenna, is 3. This has been a very trying, long day for everyone, however, our little guy was the loudest for sure! Plus he weighs about 30 lbs. and wants Lizzy to hold him most of the time. He signs to put his shoes on and signs to go in the car. Lizzy has finally figured out he is asking her to take him home ( the place he was familiar with). He calls Lizzy, 'Ma' and Mark , whatever the Chinese Dad name is. He even asked for me when they left for the first appointment as they boarded the bus. (my chinese Grandma name) So he understands a lot. He is extremely bright! He clings to Lizzy. If you know Lizzy, you know she has a lot of stamina, patience and she is STRONG! Jian hates his stroller but it is a good way to carry that pack of "papers" they have to carry!! When they came back to the hotel, Lizzy was carrying him and when he spotted me he grinned ear to ear! There were several parents and myself just chatting in the hall when they walked up! When I saw that sweet face light up with recognition for me, I was sooooo excited!! We already have a 'thing' going and he doesn't forget a thing!!! He is fast, extremely neat (go figure, he drops something and has a fit if he can't pick it up quick enough!) giggles like crazy and has the cutest smile! And, here's the best part, I got my first kiss from him tonight!!!! The 4 of them, Mark, Lizzy, Cash, and Jian were playing tag in the hall, they wore their parents out!!!! They were too fast for me to get a good picture, but know this, Jian's last name (they have a different order of first, middle, last names, not sure which it is) is Kong! We decided he is definitely KING KONG!!
Thankfully for the next 3 days we have no appointments, bus rides or plane rides, so it will be a good opportunity for everyone to spend quality family time with their littles ones!
Please continue to keep all these families in your prayers. You may or may not know, but each of them has something "special" for their parents to deal with. Our littlest baby in the group especially needs prayers. She was having some respiratory issues and had to go to the hospital. We haven't heard how she is all day, so everyone is very worried about her and her mom!!
On another note: the door at the end of the hall reads "MASSAGE OPEN". I have been so sore since the GREAT WALL, Lizzy knocked on the door and asked about it. Of course, no English spoken, but I was sore enough to go for it! So for 1 hour this tiny sweet girl messaged every sore muscle and bone, including EACH toe (they hurt, too)!! Sweet!! And it was about $30 US! Really sweet! May have to do that again!!
Ida: You make us laugh and cry all at the same time! I had Mark read your blogs and he is in awe of you and your family. Especially love the story of the massage!!! Looking forward to hearing more about your adventure in China. Can't wait for the stories when we are in Dallas!!!
