So, Lizzy and Cassius sang Happy Birthday to me in Mandarin! I was quite impressed! The Mandarin teacher, Mimi, called me soon after that and introduced herself as Cassius's Mandarin teacher. She said Cash gave her a gift (it was a Mary Kay gift) with my business card and she wanted to talk to me. She wanted to talk to me about Cassius. She told me how well read, smart, polite, sweet, engaging, respectful and handsome that he is and how much she loved him! We are meeting for lunch when Sonny picks me up from the ariport! She wants to meet me and I want to meet this smart cookie, as well! Now I will have a new friend in California who is Chinese and is a Mandarin teacher and sells Real Estate! HUMMMM!
The anticipation of how Jian will react when he sees us is OVERWHELMING!!! I watched LITTLE PEOPLE with the kids this afternoon. They were in China adopting their little 2 year old and they looked happy as happy knows how to be! I couldn't help but wonder what Jian will be thinking of this little band of people taking him away from what he known all his 2 years of life.
I want to share something that happened on Saturday. I had lunch with a friend from high school. She is an absolute doll and I just love her! We had a rather crazy hurried lunch, I had so much to get done and in place and I guess my friend felt my anxiousness. The next morning she called to tell me she couldn't stop thinking about me and that she had a dream about my son, Paul. She never met him but she knew he had passed away 9 years ago. She said he told her to tell me to calm down and that I worry too much and not to worry because he was taking care of Jian and everything would be great. He said that Jian would mean more to us and we would love him more than we ever could have imagined. My son ALWAYS said to me, "Mom, you worry too much.". OK, I will take that as a sign!!
Here is another note we recieved that I LOVED reading every word and read it over and over again just trying to take it all in!
Dear Lahive Famiiy,Keep us in your prayers!! More adventures to come!!
I am a core team volunteer at the Shanghai Healing home. I just wanted to tell you how much your little man is loved. I have been privileged to be able to be one of the volunteers that met the baby's when they arrived. Jian Kong arrived with three other baby's at the train station from the orphange. I am sure we included that picture of him in your book. He was healthy and happy. He has the most gorgeous eyes. He has grown into such a handsome and very sweet little one. We sometimes take some of them for a baby's day out and he has gone quite often. He enjoys playing outside and the French fries, however getting his haircut has not been his favorite thing to do. I have a Shanghai Healing Home Facebook page if you would like to look at it as there are many pictures of him recently that are not in his book.
I am in the US now and will not get to see him before he leaves us to join your family. He will always be loved by us and we are greatful to have been apart of his life for a short time.
Wow, Aunt I, from Sammy's comment to your friends dream I'm sitting here in tears. I"m certain Paulie is watching over Jian and the rest of you.
ReplyDeleteSafe travels!! Love you and will miss you! Of course, like you, I worry too much and will be a nervous wreck until all of you are home safe and sound again.
It was so lovely meeting you today briefly at school. :-) I am sorry we didn't get to talk longer - I loved hearing about your son, Paul - and was in tears reading the story about Paul here giving you the message not to worry! I am so sorry that your dear son passed away - and glad that he has been able to give you a message from Heaven. I am so glad you will be blogging through your trip to China - what a wonderful gift to Jian for when he's older! I have been praying for Lizzy for months regarding this adoption - and I am so glad the days are finally here! Will be praying for you ALL as you embark on this MOST exciting journey to your new son and grandson!!!!! :-)
